Euthanasia: mark animal as deceased
When you add a product marked as an euthanasia product to an animal's record, Vetocare may ask you to immediately mark the animal as deceased. The product has already been added; the choice you make here only determines whether the animal is also registered as deceased.
When does the prompt appear
The prompt appears after you have added an euthanasia product to the animal (not from a quotation). If adding it also creates a castration context, the euthanasia prompt takes precedence.
The 'Deceased' dialog
The dialog is titled 'Deceased' and asks whether the animal should be marked as deceased, with a message asking whether you want to mark the animal as deceased or choose 'No' to do this later. It also includes an information message stating that scheduled reminders for this animal will be cancelled.
The dialog contains the following fields:
Deceased – a selection with 'Yes' (selected by default) and 'No'.
Deceased on – a date field.
Note on death – a note field with a maximum length of 4,000 characters.
Confirm with Yes
If you choose 'Yes', 'Deceased on' is required and must be a valid date: not before the animal's date of birth and not after the prescribed date of the euthanasia product.
Leave 'Deceased' set to 'Yes'.
Enter a valid date in Deceased on.
If applicable, enter a Note on death.
Click Confirm.
After confirmation, the animal is registered as deceased (with the date and note of death) and archived. Future reminders and calendar appointments for the animal are removed, and any outstanding workflow schedules are cancelled.
No or Cancel
Choose 'No' or click Cancel to close the dialog without marking the animal as deceased. The animal remains active. In both cases, the euthanasia product has already been added to the animal.
You can mark an animal as deceased at any later time via the animal's record; see Mark as deceased for the steps.
