Set required fields on the intake form
Set required fields on the intake form
Use the Required on intake column to decide whether a client must complete each client or animal field on the intake form. Configure this in the settings: open Configure client fields for client fields or Configure animal fields for animal fields. You can also control which fields are visible in these overviews; see Hide animal and client fields.
Make a field required
Make a field required so the client cannot skip it when completing the intake form.
Go to Settings and open Configure client fields or Configure animal fields.
Find the row for the field you want to make required.
Select Required on intake. Vetocare will also automatically select Intake and Record for this field.
Click Save.
On the intake form, the client must complete every required field before submitting the form. The checkbox in the column header applies the setting to all fields in the overview at once.
Fields with fixed settings
Some fields have fixed settings that you cannot change:
For clients, Name and Email are always visible and required on the intake form.
For animals, Species and Name are always visible and required on the intake form.
A client's Address is always visible in the record and on the intake form; you choose whether the client must complete it.
The No. rows do not have separate checkboxes for Intake and Required on intake.
Required and visible go hand in hand
A field cannot be required while hidden: the settings will not be saved if a required field is turned off for the record or intake form. The checkboxes affect each other:
Selecting Required on intake automatically turns on Intake and Record.
Clearing Intake also clears Required on intake.
Clearing Record also turns off Intake, and therefore removes the requirement.
Salutation required on the intake form
There is one additional requirement for Salutation: at least one salutation option must exist, otherwise the settings will not be saved. First add an option via Settings → Salutation options; see Use salutations for clients.
