Entering an animal’s date of birth
Enter an animal’s date of birth using the date field in the animal record. If you don’t know the exact date, Vetocare calculates a date based on an estimated age.
Entering a date of birth
The date field follows your practice’s language and date format settings. The corresponding age is shown below the field.
Open the animal record and click Edit.
Enter the date of birth using the date field.
On the animal and client screens, the age is shown in as much detail as possible: in days for young animals, then in weeks, months, and years, with any additional months.
Using an estimated age
If you only know approximately how old the animal is, use the hourglass icon in the date field.
Click the hourglass icon next to the date of birth.
Enter an estimate, such as 7w, 3j, or 2j 6m. Vetocare calculates the date of birth from this estimate.
The date of birth entered this way is an estimate.
Date of death
Vetocare checks that the date of death is not before the date of birth. If you enter an earlier date, it is flagged and the window stays open so you can correct it. Read Marking an animal as deceased to learn how to mark an animal as deceased.
