Searching in Vetocare
Search all your clients, animals, and invoices with one search function. Open the search modal from the left-hand menu or with a keyboard shortcut. It searches names, numbers, contact details, and invoice details.
Opening and closing the search function
The search field is below the logo in the left-hand menu and is only intended to open the search modal; you do not type in the field itself.
Click Search... below the logo in the left-hand menu, or press Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+K (Mac). The keyboard shortcut opens and closes the modal from any page.
Close the modal with Esc, the close icon (Ć) in the modal, or by clicking outside the modal.
Searching and opening results
Searching starts automatically after two characters; there is no search button. Use the tabs to choose whether to search everything or only clients, animals, or invoices.
The tabs are called All, Clients, Animals, and Invoices. You only see the Invoices tab if you have invoice permissions; for other users, the tab is omitted entirelyāit is not grayed out or disabled.
The All tab displays a maximum of 5 results per category; a category tab displays a maximum of 12.
Before you start typing, the modal displays: Type to search by name, invoice number, or description. If there are no matches, you see No results.
The top result is already selected, with the āµ icon. Open a result as follows:
Move the selection up and down with the arrow keys or the mouse.
Press Enter or click to open the selected result. A result opens the corresponding record: the client record, the animal record, or the invoice.
Searching invoices
An invoice matches on invoice number, customer name or company name, animal details on the invoice, and descriptions of invoice lines.
An invoice result shows the invoice number, the client or company name and, where applicable, the matched line description. If multiple lines match, + More is shown.
What the search function matches
Search is case- and accent-insensitive: zoe also finds Zoƫ. Multiple search terms separated by spaces must all occur somewhere in the record.
The search function searches:
Clients: first name, last name, full name, company name, email address, telephone number, mobile number, website, visiting address, and customer number (only if the practice has made the customer number field visible). In addition, through the client's animals: animal name, chip number, and passport number.
Animals: animal name, chip number, passport number, breed, animal species, owner, and the visible animal and customer numbers.
If you want to search within a single client list instead of your entire practice, read how this works in Client lists.
