Add a product
To start adding products in your Vetocare, navigate to "Products". To add a product, click the "Add product" button.
The following screen is then displayed:
The screen contains the input fields listed below. Only the product name and item number are required fields.
Product group The product group option is useful for creating categories, so you can keep a better overview of the products in Vetocare. If you do not have any saved product groups yet, you can click the plus sign on the right to create a new product group.
Product name The product name is, of course, simply the name of the product. If you select a product when creating an invoice, the product name will appear on the invoice exactly as you have entered it here.
Item number Enter the item number you already use in your practice to identify the product.
Supplier The supplier of the product. To add one, select an existing contact from your Vetocare. If you have not yet added the supplier as a contact in your Vetocare, you can easily create one by navigating to "Contacts" and clicking "Add contact".
Supplier item number Enter the item number used by the product's supplier.
Barcode Enter the barcode number associated with this specific product.
PRESCRIBING AND USE
This section covers prescribing and use of the product.
Prescribing and use include a number of fields:
Print label If a label printer has been configured and this field is set to Enabled, you can print labels for this product.
Dosage The dosage that should normally be administered. This is copied when the product is added to an animal and also appears on labels.
Default instructions Instructions that will appear on the label.
Registration number The product's registration number. This is copied when the product is added to an animal and also appears on logbook documents.
Narcotic Use this to indicate that the product has a narcotic effect.
Antibiotic Use this to indicate that the product is an antibiotic.
Cascade Use this to indicate that this is a cascade product. This is copied by default when creating products for animals.
PRICE INFORMATION
You have now reached the price information for the product you are adding. This section contains basic price information.
To set the price, enter the following information:
Purchase price The price at which the product is purchased.
Sale price The sale price of the product, excluding VAT. The VAT rate is calculated automatically when an invoice is created. To prevent VAT from being added twice, it is very important to enter the sale price excluding VAT.
VAT rate The VAT rate applied to this specific product. You can choose from 0% (exempt), 9% (reduced rate), and 21% (standard rate). Additional VAT rates can be added in the settings if necessary. Click here to learn how to add additional VAT rates.
INVENTORY
The final section under the price information is inventory.
To configure the inventory, set the following:
Inventory item Use this to indicate whether the item is linked to inventory. If this is set to yes, the remaining fields will appear.
Starting inventory The starting inventory value. If this is not zero, an inventory transaction will be created when the product is created.
Minimum inventory The product's minimum inventory level. If the current inventory falls below the minimum level, the current inventory number will turn red to indicate that there is a shortage. If the minimum inventory level has not been reached, an indicator saying "Inventory low" will appear in the product overview.
Order quantity Use this to specify the fixed order quantity.
Unit Use this to indicate whether the product is, for example, a single item, box, or jar.
Storage location The location where this product is stored. This could be a warehouse, cabinet, or drawer, for example.
Finally, click "Save" to add the product to your inventory system in Vetocare.
