Manage VAT rates

When you create your practice, Vetocare automatically sets up three VAT rates: exemption (0%), the reduced rate (9%), and the standard rate (21%). These rates are configurable defaults: you can adjust them and add different rates for special situations.

The applicable VAT rates vary by country and change over time. Since the Dutch-language interface is also used by practices outside the Netherlands, you can align the default rates with those that apply to your practice. Adjust an existing rate or add a different rate.

To manage your VAT rates, go to "VAT settings" via your "settings".

You will see an overview of all existing VAT rates in your Vetocare. To add a new VAT rate, click the "Add VAT rate" button.

In the window for creating a different VAT rate, fill in the following fields:

Name — the name of the VAT rate, for example "the standard rate" or "the reduced rate".
Percentage — the percentage that applies to the different VAT rate.

Then click "Save" to add the new VAT rate to your Vetocare.

The new VAT rate is now available when creating new invoices. You can also select a VAT rate as the default rate for selected products.

VAT exemption & small business scheme

Instead of entering 0% VAT everywhere, Vetocare also allows you to enable VAT exemption. This is relevant, for example, if your practice falls under the small business scheme. With this exemption, invoices no longer display VAT amounts, so you do not need to enter them. To enable the exemption, go to the VAT settings, just as you would for the rates. Under the rate table, you will see three options under the heading "VAT exemption".

VAT liable

This disables the exemption; VAT amounts are always shown on invoices.

Partially exempt

This displays a checkbox next to the invoice lines on every invoice, allowing you to choose whether the invoice shows VAT amounts. With this setting, you can, for example, transfer VAT to the customer on certain invoices when using the reverse-charge mechanism.

Exempt

With this setting, VAT amounts are no longer shown on any new invoices.
